SHORT TERM PROGRAMS
FREE Initial Consultation
Time: Pre-screen of student’s dossier (e.g. transcript, test scores, résumé) followed by a 60 minute meeting with student and parent(s).
The consultation is to help a student and his or her parents gain a general idea of the college options available if the student’s academic, standardized testing and extracurricular record continues along the same path. At the end of the consultation, I will recommend additional programs based on the student’s needs and desires. The initial consultation covers the following:
- Identify the student’s passions and interests and create a plan to develop them.
- Evaluate the student’s academic and extracurricular history—including transcript, test scores and “Brag Sheet” (a prioritized list of extracurricular activities; awards, honors and achievements; employment and internships; community service; summer activities; hobbies & interests) – and create academic and extracurricular plans.
- Pinpoint academic areas where the student could benefit from additional attention and institute new study methods to improve the way the student relates to school, teachers and studying.
- Discuss unique circumstances and/or personal issues that have affected academic and personal history, and how to present these issues in his or her college application.

This individualized service helps students identify strengths and weaknesses in their writing ability. I review, comment and correct subsequent revisions until the student and I agree the essays are in optimal shape for submission.
Application Review
If a senior simply wants his or her application reviewed prior to submission, and does not need guidance and support in other areas, the senior can have me perform an application review and can work with me on an hourly basis after the initial consultation. I thoroughly evaluate all aspects of the application, making comments, suggestions and revisions on everything from the Brag Sheet, essays, outside letters of recommendation, transcripts, test scores, etc. I will identify any “Red Flags” (problems, omissions, inconsistencies, unanswered questions, etc.) and will advise if the application is ready for submission to a particular college. I will evaluate all findings and make suggestions for corrections.
